We woke up at 6 a.m. today to torrential rain bouncing off of the balcony, to early,
so went back to sleep! At 9.30 it had stopped raining, but looked cold and rather bleak.
We decided to go to the Aquarium and see fish, jelly fish, giant turtles, sea otters and
other marine life and hope for the sun in the afternoon. The Aquarium is really good loads
of lovely sea life and took lots of piccies. The cafe there did a good pizza for lunch
with cherry slush puppy. The sun has got it's hat on this afternoon, so we drove along the
coast to Big Sur, stopping along the way to take pretty pictures of the sea! We came back
to Carmel, yes we got here at last! We booked in at Hofsas House (the pink one Andrew
says) A King size bed, nice room, balcony and you can see the sea, what more can you ask?
Carmel is very picturesque, pretty houses, loads of Art Galleries and quaint little shops
and of course the beach. We ate Italian tonight at Pernille fresh Calamari and Chicken
Florentine for me and Minestrone soup and sausage baked with tomatoes and mozzarella for
Andrew and a lovely wine of course. Chateau Julien Grand Reserve Monterey Merlot 1996. It
is an excellent wine, one of the best we have had here. We watched a lovely sunset, with
no camera and armed with the wine are writing our journal. Toto seems to like the Beetle
and has chattered away happily during our travels. Tomorrow we will explore Carmel more
thoroughly. Now it's goodnight from me and goodnight from him - the Intrepid explorer over
there is asleep!!!!!!!!!!!
